Finally a nice buck!
This weekend i had a buddy come over to the outfitters for a weekend deer hunt. My buddy curt is from Columbus Ohio, and has been hunting with me for years. The reason he came down was to harvest a management buck for me, because honestly he just wants to hunt and i didn't want to charge him for a trophy buck. So we was in the stand Saturday evening and it was about 5:25, the sun was starting to go down behind the cut corn field we was hunting. So after a couple hours of watching does and a couple turkeys out eating in the field a nice management 8 pointer stepped into range, and i gave him the green light for the shot. Curt made a perfect shot, and placed the arrow right behind the front leg, poked through both lungs and the buck didn't run run more than 40 yards and piled up.

Funny hunt this weekend!
So here is a story about one of the hunts i guided this weekend at GML Outdoors. On saturday i had a client who had flown down from New York to hunt deer at the farm, so friday night i cut the corn to ensure a good morning hunt on saturaday for the client. So its saturday morning about 46 degrees, a good wind for the spot we were in and i was sure we were going to have good luck this morning. Its 6:45 and across the corn field i see a very nice10 pointer coming who anyone especially this city slicker would be more than pleased with. So after about 10 minutes of watching him he comes in to about 20 yards i turn the camera on, the client draws his bow and.......SMACK sends a carbon arrow straight into the tree 25 yards right in front of us, and the deer walks away laughing at us and i got it all on camera. So that was my delightful hunt this weekend tell me what you think. Should the city slickers stay in the city or come play with the real men and women from the country?

This weeks hunting plans.
Well I'm starting off the week by hunting one of my favorite stands on Monday morning called the corn stand. I'm not really expecting much to happen this week its supposed to be a warm one with rain on Wednesday, so hopefully that rain brings in a cold front and makes the deer start moving because right now their pretty nocturnal. This past weekend was Illinois's youth firearm season and my 12 year old brother harvested a doe in Pope County, IL. My clients from New York are coming down on Saturday so I'm praying for cool weather and low winds. Ill keep you posted on how this weeks going.
Thanks, Jake
