Well ya'll its monday September 26th and its dang near the Illinois archery deer season. Bow season is something i think about 24/7, 365 days a year. Me and my family have an outfitters business called GML Outdoors we have been doing this for about two years, its ran by my dad, mom, me, my uncles, and my two brothers, but i am the main guide. We have a series of differnt farms such as one in Chester, Pinkneyville, Tamaroa, and the main one is in Golconda IL which runs across the Wabash River. We dont just do deer outfitting we also do turkey and waterfowl. I have two guys from Florida flying in on Wednesday to bow hunt this weekend. We usaully take about 6 deer hunters and 12 turkey hunters which is about a good amount of animals harvested for one year. Well there will be plently more bout the business soon including pictures of what we harvest this weekend.
Stay posted, and good luck to all you hunters

Boring week..
Yep,
So far this week its been pretty calm at Chester Memorial i haven't had anything exciting which is a good thing sometimes. Now just because its been calm doesn't mean I'm not busy other then the hospital i also work at Gilster Mary Lee as a welder, and i have been working my butt off there since everything seems to be breaking. If I'm off at the hospital or I'm on call I'm at Gilsters, i usually rake in about 48-56 hours a week between the two facilities, with a different variety of shifts that range from 8 hours to 12 hours sometimes both of them together. Now I'm not complaining i like to work, i maintained two jobs throughout high school starting my freshman year when i got a worker's permit. I think working these jobs have gave me good responsibility and respect ethics, and also have kept me out of the regular high school drama and trouble.
Thanks, Jake

A full week of work in the ER.
Well this week started off pretty good until Tuesday September 14th. I started the day off going to my speech class in the morning from 8-9:15 and got put on call for the ER at about 1 p.m. Well usually when you get put on call you rarely ever get called in so i figured it would be some good time to get caught up on homework. Well as we all know luck never falls my way and i get called in for an emergency at about 4. Anyways i get to the hospital and its a wreck head to head collision vehicle accident which was not a very pretty site i would get into more details but theres alot and pretty gory, long story short it was a fatal accident for one of the patients and the other patient is stable and alive. But wait that's just Tuesday, ok so Wednesday the 15th i go into work at 3:30 and am working on the surgical floor having a pretty decent night. Well again I'm such a lucky person that at 7:30 EMS comes over the scanner with ANOTHER ! head to head collision right outside of Chester and their ETA was 3 minutes, so anyways i run down to the ER and see the accident victim and its 2 males one a 45 year old and one in his 20's so as we precede to ship out the more chronic patient which was the older one he starts to go into cardiac arrest which is not a good thing. So about 23 minutes and 410 compressions with some antibiotics later Mr. Jane Doe is now deceased and thats 2 patients that have passed away this week. If ya'll have any questions about why or how their chances were of living or just anything at all post it
And thats my exciting 2 days not very fun but hey, comes with the title of NURSE.

Weekend at the farm
This past weekend i went down south to one of my farms which is in a town called Golconda, IL which is about 2 hours away from chester between Vienna, IL and across the river from Paducah, KY. We pretty much had the whole family down ther because "the farm" is a place were we all go whenever we want to spend time together or we have a family reunion. We have a bout 450 acres down there so it's a big deer hunting place for our family too, everybody in my family hunts including my mom and both my aunts. We started an outfitters called GML outdoors and im the lead guide, bow season is starting on October 1st and i have two guys from Florida flying up to come deer hunt. The funny thing is, they were down about the last weekend of July to scout some deer and figure out what stand they were going to try, and the morning of the scouting my mom made biscuits and gravy and they didnt even know what they were, now that's funny in my opinion. Ill keep you posted about how they do on their hunt.

Fun night at work!
Well here is my first post of the semester and I'm going to tell everyone about the night i had at work on Friday the 27th of August. Well i was put on call at about 1 in the afternoon which means I'm not allowed to travel further then 30 minutes away from the hospital, which isn't so bad because i get paid to be on call. So anyways i got called in to the Emergency Room at about 4 o'clock because of a possible severed Femur fracture resulting from a gun shot wound. So when i get to work i see the patient is only 9 years old and I'm shocked! How could a 9 year old kid possibly have been shot in the leg? Well after we get him settled down and sedate him enough to were his pain is stable, we start asking him what happened and the cause of the wound because he had no parental supervision with him, the parents are divorced, the father was at work and the mom not around when he arrived at the hospital. So anyways the story goes his 15 year old brother shot him in the leg with a 12 gauge SHOTGUN! at a total of 8 yards away, pretty much point blank range. He says the reason he shot him was because his his younger brother the 9 year old wouldn't get him a glass of water! Now how crazy is that some serious psychiatric problems there in my opinion. So finally after we got all of the buckshot out of the kids leg 38 pellets to be exact we shipped him on the air-evac helicopter up to St.Louis. We had him in and out there in under 30 minutes, now that's some good nursing work there people. So there is my exciting night at work, let me know what you think open for opinions and comments.
